Santa is out of Job

Selena was not sure what has to be done next. She had been Head of Communications for her life and suddenly she is doing nothing. She thought of joining others in the arcade but her mind wouldn't allow her to think of something else. The other day when Schuzz told her that Santa is serious about starting the workshop wihtout the Elves this year she became more upset, she decided to meet some of her old friends, maybe this would help her to ease off her pain. Walking down the town square she could see Cherrie at the chocolate bar, she headed for it. "Good evening Cherrie, how are you doing today?" asked Selena.

"Oh thank you never been better, Selena. How you been?" enquired Cherrie. "Have been okay so far, not sure when I would loose my head." said Selena. "Hey don't loose hope things would turn out well for us all" said Cherrie rubbing Selena's back. "I am also hoping the same Cherrie" said Selena with a grin. The chocolate bar was full that day seems the Elves and the other humans were having a fun time. Selena was busy talking to Cherrie, suddenly Selena felt a hand on her back and it was cold, she turned to see who that was. A tall slim guy inan overcoat was standing and smile at her. "Miss Selena I presume?" asked the man in a hoarse voice, "Yes I am Selena and you?" replied Selena "Pardon my intrusion I am Hugh Welsh from The Bank, can I speak to you for a moment?" asked Mr Welsh. "Sure why not" said Selena. "Okay lets go somewhere private and speak". Saying this the two headed for the corner table Cherrie spoke softly to Selena "Don't worry I am here watching you two". Many possibilities were running wild in Selena's mind, she was atmost wondering why do this man wants to talk to me and that too in private. The duo took two vacant seats across the room with a window to their side, after being comfortable Selena asked "Mr Welsh is the name right, if I have got it right." "Yes mam" replied Hugh. "How can I help you Mr Welsh?" enquired Selena. "Well mam infact we can help each other" said Hugh with a smile. "How is that Mr Welsh?" curious Selena. "We (The Bank) know that you were heading the communication department back at Mr Claus's workshop" said Hugh. "Yes I was, so what about it?" asked Selena. "Well there is a situation at The Bank and we are looking forward to hire as head of communications with at north pole. The remuneration would be fantastic that would also involve other benefits" said Hugh. "But who told you that I am looking for the job?" asked Selena. "Well as you no longer working at the workshop we thought you might be interested in a job change" said Hugh. "Hmmm I have not thought about it yet" said Selena. "Well no hurry Miss Selena, The Bank can wait for an answer. Have a nice rest of the day" saying this Hugh got up and put on his hat and walked towards the exit. Selena still confused got up from the table and walked towards Cherrie across the bar ........ ...

Santa is out of Job

It took some time for Schuzz to recover from the news meanwhile Schemez had brought two pint of cool North Pole special beer Clungsy . The beer is made of wild redberry apple only found in the hills of Sorlon to the east of the town. About two hundred years back Clung a senior Elf was busy experimenting with redberry apple juice and he accidently found out that he can brew a tasty beer out of this sweet and sour fruit. The Elves and Santa loved it so much Santa announced that no other drinks would be served in North Pole. "Thank you Schemez" said Schuzz while taking the pint from Schemez.

"As if the world has come to an end, I have been with the workshop my entire life and now I have to look for a new job?" Schuzz looked at Schemez "This was not meant to be, somebody has to talk in sense to Santa" said Schemez. "Schemez then let’s do it we can go together and talk to him directly and see what can be done" Schuzz dropped his pint on the sidewalk and pulled Schemez towards him. Schemez too kept his pint down and stood up, they together walked towards the workshop. Santa was sitting his office sipping the Clungsy , after every sip he would think of good old days he had spent with the Elves especially with Clung, it has been five hundred years now since his father, Santa Claus the 20th handed over the legacy to him and he was much disappointed that things turned this way. Santa was disturbed from his thoughts by a knock on the door "Who is that?" enquired Santa, "It’s us Mr.Santa Schuzz and Schemez, can we come in?" Schuzz spoke nervously. "Yes my old friends come in" said Santa. Schuzz opened the door to enter the room that was once alive and brightly lit, now light is avaliable only through the fire place burning the last logs from the store. "Ah Schuzz, Schemez how are you people doing?" enquired Santa "Things were better before Mr.Santa.." Schuzz was interrupted by Schemez, in an angry tone he asked "Why are you replacing us?" "I am not replacing anybody. It was not me who left the workshop, it was you all" Santa replied in a similar tone "What can I do should I not think about the Children’s of the world? Spoil their Christmas just because the Elves didn't come to work?" said Santa. "We are ready now to come to work, will you take us back?" asked Schuzz. "Thats you two, have you been to the town square lately? Elves are busy enjoying life, their Gaming Arcade, Hot Chocolate bar, the Bank. Would they like to come back?" asked Santa "Mr. Santa I can talk to them and see what can be done. We can start the workshop again" said Schemez. "It’s already too late I am starting the workshop next week, Mr Mo from China is helping us out this year. Maybe.." Santa said with a hesistation "..Maybe the Elves should take a break this year" Santa was looking away from Schuzz and Schemez. Nothing more to say Schuzz and Schemez disappointed walked away from the office. Santa sighed in grief, the damage has been done. ........ ...

Intrapreneurship - Detailed

View of the B-25 final assembly line at North American Aviation's Inglewood, California, plant (LOC)

Scholars have defined intrapreneurship in a variety of ways. In 1992, The American Heritage Dictionary acknowledged the popular use of a new word, intrapreneur, to mean "A person within a large corporation who takes direct responsibility for turning an idea into a profitable finished product through assertive risk-taking and innovation". Terms such as intrapreneuring (Pinchot, 1985), corporate entrepreneurship (Burgelman, 1983, Vesper, 1984; Guth and Ginsberg, 1990; Hornsby et al., 1993, Stopford and Baden-Fuller, 1994), corporate venturing (MacMillan, 1986; Vesper, 1990), and internal corporate entrepreneurship (Schollhammer, 1981, 1982; Jones and Butler, 1992) have been used to describe the phenomenon of intrapreneurship (Antonic and Hisrich, 2001). For instance, Stevenson and Jarillo (1990) defined intrapreneurship as a process in which individuals inside organizations pursue opportunities without regard to the resources they currently control, while Vesper (1990) defined it as doing new things and departing from the customary to pursue opportunities. According to Hisrich and Peters (1998), intrapreneurship is a spirit of entrepreneurship within the existing organization. Some of the definitions have been narrow and focused on large organizations to the exclusion of smaller organizations. Intrapreneurship is perhaps best understood as a form of internal entrepreneurship that takes place with the encouragement and support of management. An employee who takes responsibility for developing an innovative idea into a marketable product is known as an intrapreneur. Management consultants Gifford and Elizabeth Pinchot coined the term in 1976 and helped popularize the concept of intracorporate entrepreneurship in their pioneering book “Intrapreneuring: Why the companies don’t Have to Leave the Corporation to Become an Entrepreneur (1985)”.

In the past many companies have identified the values of Intrapreneurship and have setup internal organization whose main focus and purpose is to promote innovation amongst ranks, popular amongst all is the “Skunk Works” group setup at Lockheed Martin. The Skunk Works group was originally named after a reference in a cartoon, and was first brought together in 1943 to build the P-80 fighter jet. Kelly Johnson, later famous for Kelly's 14 rules of Intrapreneurship was the director of this group. Companies like 3M, Intel and Google also has a tradition of implementing Intrapreneurship in their organization.
